What do industrial engineering, pottery, and incentive compensation have in common? For Blesy, they're all opportunities to learn something new, get creative, and solve problems.
Blesy joined WorkCentive four years ago after a referral from fellow team member Ibby. With a background in Industrial Engineering, specializing in Human Factors and Information Technology, she was excited to apply her skills in a new field. After working at larger organizations, she was drawn to WorkCentive's collaborative culture, close-knit team, and opportunities to learn and grow.
One of Blesy's favorite experiences at WorkCentive has been working on a long-term client project that has allowed her to build strong relationships and see the impact of her work firsthand. Unlike previous roles where she often worked behind the scenes, she now collaborates directly with clients, understands their challenges, and helps make their day-to-day work easier.
Blesy’s approach to client work is shaped by a lesson she learned during a university project: even the best technical solution can fall short without effective communication. As Blesy puts it, "Communication without comprehension is just talking." It's a philosophy she brings to every project, taking the time to listen, ask questions, and ensure everyone is working toward the same goal.
Outside of work, Blesy is enjoying newlywed life and settling into a new home with her husband. As the first in their friend group to have a place of their own, they've happily taken on the role of hosts. Their ideal evening? Friends around the dining table, a home-cooked meal, board games, and plenty of conversation.
Here's something you might not know about Blesy: she's Filipino, was born and raised in Dubai, and moved to Canada when she was 10. Growing up before much of Dubai's rapid technological development, she remembers a childhood filled with hand games, card games, and finding creative ways to have fun without screens.
That creative streak has stayed with her throughout her life. From playing the trumpet in high school to more recently exploring painting and pottery, Blesy enjoys finding new ways to express her creativity. Whether she's learning a new artistic skill or tackling a technical challenge, she enjoys figuring things out.
From untangling tricky compensation challenges and collaborating with clients to hosting game night, Blesy brings curiosity, creativity, and a genuine interest in people to everything she does.
