Employee Spotlight: Kristin
A Strategic Thinker, Builder, and Advocate for Better Compensation Practices
Kristin joined WorkCentive over three years ago, drawn to the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a smaller, collaborative team. She was especially aligned with Noah’s practical, open leadership style and the autonomy to carve her own path. Originally brought on to focus on strategy, reporting, and dashboards, Kristin was excited by the chance to use data to influence business decisions and drive real outcomes.
Her path into compensation, however, was anything but typical. She stepped into the space while covering a maternity leave early in her career at Goldman Sachs, quickly realizing how critical the function was to the broader business. She saw how compensation touches everything - from advisor relationships and payout accuracy to executive-level forecasting. She built and rolled out reporting dashboards used across the organization, supporting audiences ranging from advisors to executive leadership.
Navigating complex scenarios like negotiations and exceptions gave her a deep understanding of how the business operates end to end, allowing her to connect the dots and tell a more complete story through data. As she often advises others: “It is better to understand the business than to sit in a silo.”
That systems-thinking mindset traces back earlier in her career. During her time at Drexel University, she founded a fair-trade student group and led an initiative to introduce living-wage apparel into the campus bookstore, partnering with Alta Gracia, a manufacturer in the Dominican Republic. It was a hands-on way to support more responsible production practices and reinforced her belief that people can influence systems through their decisions. That same perspective carries into her work with clients today - a focus on building systems that are structured, transparent, and designed to drive the right outcomes for everyone involved.
One of the most defining experiences in her career was leading the transition from manual, Excel-based compensation processes to a scalable incentive compensation solution. Without an established framework to guide her, Kristin built her own. She researched the market, gathered real user insights, and developed detailed business requirements with a strong focus on customization and flexibility. After pressure-testing solutions against complex business scenarios, she found Varicent to be the standout platform - and WorkCentive’s deep expertise in supporting it was a major reason she chose to join the team.
That implementation experience did more than modernize a system; it defines how Kristin approaches problem-solving. At WorkCentive, her role has grown into that of a trusted advisor, helping clients get more out of their systems by improving processes and building reporting that drives the right behaviors. Recognizing how isolating the compensation role can be, she is passionate about helping others get comfortable and confident in their roles - especially through the vendor selection and implementation process. She does this by developing practical resources, speaking at industry events, and serving as a Board Member for the Chicago Compensation Association (CCA).
A guiding principle throughout Kristin’s career comes from her grandfather: “Work as hard as you can, nothing is above or below you.” It is a mindset that has shaped her willingness to step into challenges, learn beyond her role, and continuously build new skills. She believes some of the most valuable experience comes from the work that sits just outside your job description.
Outside of work, Kristin is an avid animal lover who enjoys tackling home projects and gardening. She also combines her love of travel and food by taking cooking classes around the world. From Thailand and Mexico City to Japan, Italy, Puerto Rico, and Nepal, she loves learning how local dishes are made and where ingredients come from, bringing those experiences back into her own kitchen.
Whether she is guiding clients, building frameworks, or creating new resources, Kristin brings curiosity, structure, and a strong sense of ownership to everything she does.
